Residents of McIntosh County:

It’s time to kick off our annual directory photo contest! There are five photograph categories in which each will have a first place winner. The Grand Prize winning photograph will appear on the cover of the Darien Telephone Company 2017 – 2018 Directory and will be awarded $250. There will also be a People’s Choice award in which the top three winners will be eligible to win their choice of service for a year (choices listed below). Contest ends November 18, 2016 at 5:00 p.m.

 

SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
To enter the contest, all entries must be sent electronically. Fill out the official submission form here (http://goo.gl/forms/jYm5lYxjR0lC6W3y1).* Email your image as an attachment to Contest@darientel.net. The subject line of the email should read “DTC Photo Contest.” Include in the email:

* If for some reason you are unable to use the provided link, you may 1) manually type the URL into your address bar or 2) download, fill out, and email the fillable PDF-version of the submission form, included at the end of this document. Please note that this Google form is the preferred method of submission and the PDF should only be used if the Google form is not working.

 Requirements:

  •  Photographs must have be taken within the last year in McIntosh County in one of the following categories:
  1.  Weather
  2. Nature/Landscape
  3. Pets/Wildlife
  4. Outdoor Activities/Sports
  5. People in Nature

 (Pets category is not eligible to win cover, but eligible to win First Place in category as well as People’s Choice.)

  •  Photographs submitted can be black & white or color. Photos MUST be vertical and in color to be eligible for the cover photo.
  • File size for digital submission must not exceed 300 DPI or 60 MB.  The photograph must have a resolution of at least 150 DPI to be eligible for the cover photo.
  • Each participant is eligible to submit TWO photographs. Photographs can be in the same category or in different categories, but only two photographic submissions per person will be accepted. (Must have two separate submission forms and be sent in two separate emails)

 Professional Photographers are not eligible to enter (A “professional” is defined for this purpose as anyone who receives 25% or more of their income from photography).

Image Modifications

Minor digital enhancement is permitted, but images that have been significantly modified will be disqualified.

 Not Permitted:

  • No borders or frames may be added to images
  • Adding or replacing elements in an image is not permitted
  • Use of artistic filters is not permitted

 Permitted Modifications:

  • Images may be cropped and rotated
  • Images may be resized as long as the aspect ratio is maintained
  • Red – eye removal and modest spot editing

 We are not responsible for computer hardware, software, or program malfunctions or other errors, failures, or delayed computer transactions or network connections, human or technical. We are not responsible for:

  • Lost, misdirected, misplaced, illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, or late entries or
  • Any act, failure to act, or delay regarding the transmitting or processing of entries

Submissions:

    • It is imperative that you identify the subject and category of your photograph as well as title it.
  • Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. November 18, 2016.

 The Grand Prize winner automatically gives Darien Telephone Company permission to publish the winning photograph on the cover of the Darien Telephone Company 2017 – 2018 Telephone Directory and all publications of Darien Telephone information; entries (including non – winning entries) may be selected for publication inside the telephone directory and/or for display in a public venue. By submitting an entry, you automatically give permission for publication of that photograph inside the telephone directory and/or display of that photograph in a public venue.

  •  The winning photograph will be credited to the photographer named in the entry on an inside page of the telephone directory.

People’s Choice:

Once the contest is over and a grand winner has been selected, all other entries will be uploaded to our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/darientelephone. The top three photographs with the most “likes” (only “likes” will be counted; “love,” “haha,” “wow,” “sad,” and “angry” will neither add nor detract votes) will receive their choice of the following services for a year:

  •  HDTV Service
  • Internet Speed increase up to 50 MB
  • Home WiFi Service
  • Your choice Movie Pak

Judging:

  • Entries will be judged by a panel selected by Darien Telephone and will be judged on the basis of their creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in representing the unique characteristics of the McIntosh community.
  • All contest decisions are final. Any entry that fails to comply with the contest rules will be disqualified.
  • One Grand Prize winner will be selected from among all entries in the landscape, nature, weather or outdoor categories and will be awarded $250 in addition to the publication of their photograph on the cover of the Darien Telephone Company 2017 – 2018 Telephone Directory.
  • Five First Place winner will be selected, one from each five entry categories. Each of the five First Place winners will be awarded $25.
  • All winners will be notified using the information provided in the entry.
